Born as a Malaysian, Serene Lee, better known by her stage name xs, began performing at a very young age. 9 years old, to be exact! xs gets her music influences from various genres. Started with classical background, she grew up listening to orchestra and musicals, and received piano lessons and vocal training. In her teenage years, she decided to take up pop singing and drums classes.
Serene was also exposed to jazz, hip hop and electronic dance music later in college. These experiences made her to be a full round singer and by age of 21, she started posting professionally produced covers of international pop songs and musicals on her YouTube and Facebook and established a fan base for her performances. Aspiring to be a singer-songwriter in the mainstream music industry, Serene started writing her own originals where she draws inspiration from her personal thoughts and stories, brings out female empowerment, and often adds in her sense of humor and cheekiness to them, creating her very own unique style of songwriting. At the moment xs is working on her debut album to be released by mid 2021. |
