Finally I got this interview. Vanessa Goh 吴婉婷, Singaporean singer-songwriter whom I wanted to interview for a long time, and it is finally happening now.
Vanessa, is an amazing songwriter and lyricist who happened to be a singer with an extremely wide vocal range, which I personally enjoy any moment of producing her songs. Oh by the way, she is signed to FlipsidePM, not only as a singer but she also writes songs for other artists. Enjoy the interview. |
1. What are your main impulses to write about music?
We are often inspired by our surroundings and mood towards a person, different objects and events which leaves sentimental values to us. I always wish to bring across my thoughts and related experiences through music to my audience.
2. Do you get nervous before a performance? If so, how do you handle it?
To me, feeling nervous before a performance is totally normal. Since the attention will most likely be all on you as you perform, either you choose to fail, or choose to do your very best. It's always just these two choices to choose from

3. What advice would you give to beginners in music industry?
Every single moment you choose to hold back, someone else has already been ahead of you. Be courageous and go for it. 4. What makes a good studio session? Definitely with a good producer! And, be prepared for your song and feel free to just be yourself in the studio. 5. How do you balance your music with other obligations? It's hard. But if you really love music, be it just one hour, it'll still make a difference. Just a matter if you want it, or not. |

6. What is your biggest challenge as a solo artist?
The biggest challenge I would say it's self-management. You will need to manage your own time and be self-motivated.
7. Any last words?
When you were given a challenge, accept it. You'll never know if that's an opportunity for you to soar high in the future. All obstacles will one day be an experience.
