When and why did you start playing/creating music?
jaye:  I started playing the drums when I was 10 because I felt like I could express myself on it.

What are your main impulses to write about music?
jaye:  Personal struggles.

Which famous musicians do you admire? Why?
jaye:  Pharrell Williams, Gorillaz

What are your fondest musical memories?
jaye:  Watching The Red Hot Chili Peppers live. Also, as a kid when I used to tune in to MTV to catch Eminem’s latest music video.

Were you influenced by old records & tapes? If so, which ones?
jaye:  Yes, especially old skool hip-hop records such as Jurassic 5, The Beastie Boys and The Pharcyde. I also enjoyed jazz records such as Chet Baker, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra.

What advice would you give to beginners in music industry?
jaye:  Make honest music and embrace your weird.

What makes a good studio session?
jaye:  A studio session that makes you feel good.

We know besides creating music, you are
jaye:  handling various music related businesses too. How do you balance your music with other obligations?
Automation. Create systems where programs and people can run the business for you.

How do you feel about the internet in the music business?
jaye:  I love that music is now more accessible than ever, but it’s very hard to earn via streaming.
