3. There are hundreds of people trying to get those ten slots on EVERY record. For big artists, it would be thousands. I had to look at all of that competition and figure out ways I could beat them out for one of those coveted spaces. For me it was a combination of digging deeper for unique ideas, learning to write better songs all the time, hard work, quantity of songs written and getting to know people who could help me get my songs placed. In other words – a lot of hard work. 4. It feels every bit as good as you imagine it might feel to hit play and to hear someone else singing your song on a real record that’s in real stores (or on iTunes). It inspires you to write more, to work harder and to get more songs cut. And the feeling of hearing your song come on the radio out of the blue? That’s an indescribable feeling I hope all of you get to experience someday!
